Warrior Community-
Over the past several months, our leadership team has been discussing necessary changes to the Forestview Middle School (FMS) schedule for the 2025-26 school year and beyond. We have identified priorities and needs based on enrollment projections and the need to meet state statutes on delivering appropriate curriculum opportunities for all students.
We have been gathering information from high performing schools around the state, from our FMS teaching staff, and others. We are committed to creating a schedule that is centered on the needs of students, particularly in grades 5-8.
More details and a definitive plan will be shared in the next few months. We recognize that change is not always a welcome friend in education. But we cannot ignore the realities of the financial landscape. Our K-12 student population is dropping. This is not an anomaly. It is happening across the state of MN. Birth rates have dropped from 2.85/family to 1.85. That in itself looms large for K-12 schools. Status quo is not sustainable.
I welcome anyone to come visit me or invite me to come visit you and discuss not only this decision, but what other implications are on the horizon.
Thank you. I appreciate your continuing support and dedication to our students, staff, and families.
